We did it! We won the rookie all star award! All our hard work pays off now and it was worth it. This also gives us a place in the FRC world championship of 2018! Blinky did an amazing job ranking in 19th of the 60 (in rookie year!) on the north Arizona FRC regional. Lots of thanks to all our partners and especially our master partners SCHUNK GmbH & Co. KG and DHL Express who helped making a part of our dream come through!

People think that the NS is bad to travel with, well try flying American airlines 😉

Friday morning at 7:47 our journey started at the train station in Eindhoven. With fifteen people and even more bags we hopped on the train to Schiphol airport. Without any trouble we got on the airplane for the flight to Philadelphia (Flight AA 203), which departed at 12:59 CET from Schiphol and should have landed around 8 hours later in Philadelphia.
Unfortunately the weather was terrible in and around Philadelphia, which meant that the airplane had to divert to Buffalo in the state New York….
From here we had to take an 8 hour bus drive back to Philadelphia.

After we arrived at Philadelphia the chaos really started. The original flight we had to take was cancelled, which didn’t really matter, because we would have missed it anyway.
In Philadelphia there were a lot of stranded people who also didn’t make their flight. Which made it even harder to find a new flight for 15 people. So the group had to be split. First in to 2 groups, but because of more trouble in even more groups, and after that in even more groups.

To make more easy to understand, here are all the different flights people had to take in order of arriving in Phoenix:
- Kelvin & Joost: Direct flight from Philadelphia to Phoenix, arriving at 19:33 Saturday evening.
- Thomas S, Wim, Ivan, Nard & Sebastian: Flight from Philadelphia to Indianapolis, then a flight from Indianapolis to Phoenix, arriving at 20:23 Saturday evening.
- Dennis & Marijn: Flight from Philadelphia to Dallas, then a flight from Dallas to Phoenix, arriving at 23:53 Saturday evening.
- Anita & Thomas W: Flight from Philadelphia to Indianapolis, then a flight from Indianapolis to Phoenix, arriving at 7:25 Sunday morning.
- Jentyl, Giel, Rens & Joep: Flight from Philadelphia to Sint Louis, then a flight from Sint Louis to Phoenix, arriving at 18:45 Sunday evening.

Although we were supposed to all be in Flagstaff on Friday night, we did do some fun stuff during the layovers to make the trip more bearable. People got nice burgers in Indianapolis, others enjoyed the nice warm weather in Phoenix and some people won free food and drinks at the airports.

In comparison to the terrible flight we did a lot of nice things the past 2 days. But we’ll update you all with that this evening.
